Only months ago this was a decaying old mall with just a Sears left open...and now it's the center of gravity for Baltimore County. A fabulous Wegmans -- a SuperWalmart-sized "Whole Foods"-style grocery store -- anchors it, and it features an outdoor plaza of new shops, from Panera to Caribou Coffee to Walmart to DSW to Calvert Wine. Really great landscaping...checked it out with Paul & Jon, and Kevin & Andrew.

The "greenspace" on the block south of our house is being designated an official Baltimore city park, so the neighborhood association held an open community planning session to brainstorm ideas for fencing, grading, landscaping and other capital improvements. Lots of great ideas -- now we just have to find the funding!

Just for the night -- but we had a great time.... dinner at the Golden West (which seems to finally be taking all the criticism to heart -- amazing service!) and a performance of "tick, tick...BOOM!" by the Mobtown Players. Kevin did an awesome job playing guitar, and we all had a great time. Saturday morning we walked with Bob past the Baltimore Marathon runners up to Charles Village on a sunny Saturday morning...Baltimore was looking *great* this weekend.

Matt & Sara have new bikes, so we showed them around the Baltimore waterfront -- the south part of the Gwynns Falls Trail from the Inner Harbor to Middle Branch Park, Port Covington, Fort McHenry, Locust Point, and north on Charles Street through Mount Vernon Square, Charles North, and back home to Old Goucher. Cloudy day, but perfect riding weather.
